JR,
Please
let everyone
know that I
was sorry to
miss the VA
open. My
father
passed away
in the early
morning
hours last
night, and
to my horror
I found him
early this
morning. I
thought dad
was still
sleeping,
but his
heart had
given out
sometime in
the night.
My father
was one of
the greatest
men I've
ever known,
and he was
my hero.
Not only was
he a WWII
vet, but he
worked hard
to support
his family
all his
life. I've
been shaken
to the core,
and the
emotion hits
me in
waves.
Thankfully,
I've had
lots of
support from
my family
and
friends....tomorrow
will be busy
with funeral
arrangements.
I had the
dismaying
task of
calling and
informing
everyone,
and fresh
pain flared
up in my
heart every
time a
sister or
brother
broke into
tears. Dad
worked
several jobs
so that I
could go to
college, and
he believed
in me even
when I lost
faith in
myself. His
generation
was indeed
the greatest
generation
in this
nations
history. I
will miss
him, but I
am so
grateful
that he has
a long life,
and that I
have many
memories
with him.
More time is
all I wish
I'd
had....but I
cannot help
but admit
that he was
not only the
best father,
but also the
best mentor
and role
model a son
could have.
Best wishes to
all, and may
God bless us
everyone,
Rocky
